Dianne Gray Ceramicist & Glass Artist
Dianne Gray discovered the fascination of clay some years ago when a world renowned potter, David Oswald, began teaching classes in his garage, after being transferred to a small southern inland Queensland town called Wandoan. Dianne says, "Clay has a spiritual, metamorphic quality about it and is therapeutic to the artist. The mystery of the finished product is exciting, exhilarating and sometimes disappointing". "My appreciation of native wildlife grew from my childhood years living on my grandfather’s property in South Western Queensland along with an aboriginal family". Dianne now lives on the edge of the rainforest on the Coffs Coast. The native flora and fauna within the rainforest at Dianne's back door has heightened her appreciation of the coastal landscape and its associated wildlife. Dianne says, "Whilst sculpting of native birds and animals is my passion, I have undertaken a number of public art projects and one of my sculpted pieces is proudly displayed in a private collection in South Africa". Ceramics sculptures is just one of Dianne's passions, she is also an accomplished wheel thrower and produces exquisitely fine and unique vessel forms. Stained Glass and Fused Glass art is also a passion of Dianne's and is included in some of the finest homes in Queensland and New South Wales.
