Graeme Ryder entered the world of visual art with an early ‘apprenticeship’ in B&W photography under the guardianship of a professional portrait photographer and family friend. Here Graeme began to experiment with various dark room techniques to enhance or morph his images.

Graeme’s early fascination of the raw energy and ever changing landscape of life is still reflected in his Warm Glass Art forms today.

Graeme stretched his feelings for form and tone through the challenges of screen printing and print making culminating in an era of fabric painting as he ventured across the lure and uniqueness of projecting images into the fineness of raw silk.

Graeme’s passion to work the images that formed within his thoughts and inner feelings reached a new level of excitement and vigour through his world of digital graphics. He became fascinated and hungry to explore the power of computerised digital art.

Graeme’s passion to create form, light, shadow and texture pushed his imagination into new mediums. He discovered the earthy warmth and challenge of raw clay. Graeme studied and learnt the disciplines of pottery under the teachings of several skilled potters. His teachers encouraged him to create his unique style of expression.

However Graeme’s drive and passion to capture light, shade and form needed a different medium to work through. “Evolution is a living force of beauty” and Graeme’s evolution into the world of Warm Glass Art began. His journey and pathway through life and his photography, printmaking, silk, digital imaging and pottery sculptures have eventually evolved to bring his feelings and energies into being through the brilliance of glass. Graeme turns cold fragile glass into a soft, warm, tactile medium with his Warm Glass Art through which he can now express his feelings.

Graeme was recently quoted for saying, “I am now 'reflecting' in the brilliance of colour and design with kiln fired Warm Glass Art”. “The energy and refraction of the light that comes with each creation as it evolves gives me fresh inspiration”. “It challenges me to explore even newer frontiers”.

Graeme Ryder has never stopped enjoying his passion and energy in any of the art forms that have touched him during his journey in life and as he recently said, “My life is a journey of many adventures. The light continues to lead me".
